I sometimes read the questions out loud and my 6 year old screamed “Tchaikov!!” One of her favorite book series is “Ella Bella Ballerina” because they share the same name. At the end of the books it talks about the play and it’s history 💜. I can’t express how much I love that my kids can answer some of these questions! Reading is awesome

One of my favorite pieces of Tchaikovsky is "Swan Lake Waltz", "Waltz of the Flowers", and "1812 Overture". Beautiful pieces.

vampgirl1185, I never liked classical music until I saw Disney's Fantasia-- now I love it, I have something to relate it to. Especially love driving my car on the freeway, listening to classical on the radio, then a flock of birds soaring up and down in front of you! it's like they can hear the music and are performing a ballet to it. Sad it is such a brief experience....

Love his work but my fav of all time is his 1812 overture..... Wish I had 1/100th of his talent for music.

Player #683167, Oh man... Classical Music at it's Best. I danced the part of The Mouse King, and a Russian Guest. Hearing the cues are pretty vague, until you rehearse, rehearse and rehearse some more. The Russian Dance moves so quickly, that it took quite a lot out of all three of us.

I had the honor of being classically trained with the Royal Ballet (R.A.D.) in NYC, and we danced the Nutcracker every Christmas. Today, when I hear the music, I can still dance the choreography to each part, lol. Even though I never was good enough to be the Sugar Plum Fairy....maybe in my next life ;)

I go to the free concerts in the park in the spring. The war of 1812 overture is always the closing piece played by the Tucson Winds to end the season.

As someone who performed in The Nutcracker from age 8 to 18, and again at 41, it definitely has a special place in my heart. The Christmas season is not the same without it, lol.

There’s an old Soviet cartoon “The nutcracker” (1973), I highly recommend it, it’s one of my favorite cartoons ever. You can watch it on Youtube, it’s 25 minutes long, and there are no words, so you won’t need translation. It uses the music from the Nutcracker as well as other Tchaikovsky’s works. Truly magnificent ♥️

Hautbois66, at one point, it was illegal to play the 1812 Overture in Russia because it has the French National Anthem. I love it. It's truly incredible when they use real cannons and church bells.

whilst I've never been a fan of ballet and classical music, I do have got to say that July 4th 1986 at the KC MO, War Memorial Park, my father was with the MOANG unit that did the artillery shots for the 1812. it was fabulous to behold.

My husband got free tickets when we lived in Dallas from work and we went and saw it and it was one of the best things I’ve seen during Christmas so I tried to share it with my in-laws because they’ve never seen it either and now we all have nutcracker ornaments! My kids all went on field trips to go see it . . It’s nice but I still love the story of Mary and Joseph trekking to Bethlehem for Jesus’ birth and no room at the Inn . . . the wise men following the bright star to Jesus and how our glorious King came to us in such a humble way, and God our Father gave His only Son to die for our sins to save us from eternal suffering and damnation. The best Gift of all!!! ⭐️ Thank You Jesus!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏿

I was about 8 when I saw the Nutcracker ballet for the first time, and that was 68 years ago. It gave me a lifetime love of ballet. I wanted to be a ballerina because of it. My Mom signed me up for ballet lessons and I took ballet for 5 years, and took a year as an adult. Wish I could still do it! My favorite dance step is a tourjetta. I felt magical whenever I did a Tourette.
