I loved him in the Airport movies as Joe Petroli. One of his first roles was a farmhand in the Joan Crawford film "Straight Jacket".

My favorite George Kennedy role was in the movie Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (starring Clint Eastwood and a very young Jeff Bridges). He played Clint's ex-partner and the 3 of them, plus George's current buddy, went after some money from a bank heist they perpetrated, that got Clint doing time. Having no access to the money (it was stashed in an old one-room schoolhouse that was apparently demolished), they decided to reenact the bank heist originally performed. Obviously a many times watched movie for me.
