ChampionNymph37634
Really goofy, but at the same time oddly intellectual humor. I know, impossible to combine the two, however they were able to pull it off with amazing success.

they don't make good clean movies anymore...no foul language no violence..just good clean fun

Indiana-Nana!, you’re thinking of Jane Darwell, who won the Oscar for “The Grapes of Wrath”. Marjorie Main had a small role in “The Women” 8 years earlier which had a small taste of her Ma Kettle character, very funny. But the highlight of her career was a dramatic turn in 1937 playing Humphrey Bogart’s mother in “Dead End” which was directed by William Wyler who expected a lot from his actors, culminating in his having the record for most performers in his films receiving an Academy Award nomination. Laurence Olivier once lost it after Wyler said “Again” for the 37th take. Olivier said “My God, man, what do you want?”. The film was “Wuthering Heights”. Oh, and I live in Gnaw Bone, Indiana, Nana. 🤣🤣🤣

Percy Kilbride was comical in the movie State Fair. He played the part as the neighbor who was eccentric and a tightwad.

My mother loved these movies. I could not get into them, even at an early age, I knew there was something wrong with a totally lazy and useless husband and father of countless children, and the wife just goes along with it.
