JABrookman

KatWOhler
King Arthur pulled the sword from the stone as a boy, but the Lady of the Lake returned it to him after he used it in vain and threw it into the lake in a fit of humiliation.

I liked the way it was explained in Monty Python and the Holy Grail

breda, Take a breath, and chill. It's just a game. Some people comment because they have nothing else to do. No one is forcing you to read comments. There are other Trivia games out there that don't have a users forum. 😊

I recommend Stephen Lawhead's books on Talisin, Merlin and Arthur...

KatWOhler, RUBBISH! After Arthur was mortally wounded in battle with Mordred he asked one of his knights to throw Excalibur into the lake. When the knight returned Arthur asked him what had happened the knight told him nothing the sword just fell in the water. Arthur knew he was lying & told the knight for the 2nd time to throw the sword into the lake and this time he did so and when Arthur asked him again the knight told him an arm had reached out from the depths of the lake & took it below the surface …

tonyl, engaland was the slang name the Romans gave to Britainia due to the country being in the shape of a triangle. When the country was unified into one kingdom, England was the obvious choice as was Britain 🇬🇧 when England and Scotland was unified.
