Lizardgirl
Methane breaks down in the atmosphere, so it does contribute to global warming, but it’s not as bad as carbon dioxide.

Lionessa
At least 50% of the organic carbon in the world's soil is locked in permafrost, which covers 25% of the landmasses of the northern hemisphere. Unknowable, but vast, amounts of methane are also locked in the tundra. As the permafrost thaws due to our warming climate, microbes become active and carbon dioxide and methane are released into the atmosphere. This, along with ocean-warming, which produces water vapor (another potent greenhouse gas), will play an enormous part in the formation of runaway global warming

Puma Girl
Vona, So true and the same with me.

marimargo
such a surprise about the vegetation being a byproduct of buildin a dam ad producing methane

Artie
50 years ago, my dad and I would smell the methane from landfills. That was a long time ago

BrainTek
same gas produced at landfills

Jo
Methane gas pollution is a very serious concern

why haven't we found a way to use methane to heat and cool our homes, fill our gas tanks, and cook with? we're smart. if we can use poisonous batteries why not methane. it must be too cheap to bother with ( less profit.)
