Which of the United Nations agencies leads efforts to eradicate hunger and combat poverty?

I learned from personal experience as a kid that the UN is nothing but a large money laundering program. I grew up in a third world country, riddled by a shortage of food and medicine in particular. I remember the radio stations talking about supplies packages being sent by the UN, which never arrived. At the end of the year, the UN representatives would brag about "$3 million allocated for the poor in [my country]." We saw less than a penny.

Maybe that was their goal many years ago. Now the UN in my opinion, doesn’t do anything for anyone anywhere in the world.

There're doing such a bang up job too....Each day, 25,000 people, including more than 10,000 children, die from hunger and related causes. Some 854 million people worldwide are estimated to be undernourished, and high food prices may drive another 100 million into poverty and hunger.
