All presidents make some questionable dissisions, if we overthrew the government ever time goverment officials made questionable dissisions or behaved badly we would have so much instablity it would be far worse for everyone! That is why we vote and have freedom of speed and freedom of the press!

PBAlice54, The South. had every right to leave the Union: Virginia stipulated when ratifying the Constitution that since they were entering as as sovereign state, they could leave the same way; no other state objected. And the right to secede was taught at West Point before the "Civil War".

Player #11503902, The South had every reason to secede all which had nothing to do with slavery. The North was doing to the South what England did to the colonies. Slavery only became an issue to end the war. The war had everything to do with economics. The North was industrial while the South was mostly agricultural. We needed what the North had and they were squeezing every penny they could out of the South. I like Lincoln in many ways, but resent how he tore the South in pieces. There are always repercussions for each action taken. I'm not living in the past but am affected by the war still today. Land was taken away from families forever and people starved to death because the crops were burned and animals confiscated.

My family weren't southerners but Lincoln was a dirty word with them - they all branded him the worst kind of war criminal. They were all midwesterners too.

The underlying reason there was a war to beging with was slavery. States rights. The right to leave the Union. Property rights. While all part of it, were just these things were only the cogs of what the real issue was. Lincolns suspension of Habeas Corpus will always be controversial. IMO he did the right thing, but it was controversial. Lincoln had a lot on his table early on. Sometimes he had to lead by subterfuge. He had to be patient. He did an amazing job.

Player #11503902, that war was about control.Only 6% of southerners owned slaves. Why would hundreds of thousands volunteer for the rich to own slaves. Lincoln's wifes family owned slaves. Confederate money became worthless. afterward.

The Civil War was not about slavery. It was about MONEY. Free slave labor made southern plantations profitable, and southern "Christians" were not going to let anyone interfere with that. All the talk about states' rights and the sacred "southern way of life" was just so much garbage, piled up to disguise their hypocrisy and greed.
