A distance of 1000 metres is the same as which measurement?
Correct answer: Kilometre

Player #25874027
The metric system was developed by the French . As noted in the answer notes the prefix ‘kilo’ (k) denotes a quantity of 1000 , eg kilometres (km) , kilogrammes(kg)etc .
So , if you can find a French dictionary and check which letter along with W , that the French don’t use- that’s right K!.
They have invented a system using letters they don’t actually have in their vocabulary!!!.
Only the French , eh.

I learned the metric system in school -- it really is easier. It's too bad there was such resistance here in the US to using it.

Player #25874027, I hated studying French, trying to speak through my nose. I had a lot more fun studying Spanish and rolling those Rs!
