The Dickin Medal is often referred to as the animal equivalent to which British military honour?

This is a very good thing! We in the USA should treat our own animal veterans/police workers with the thanks and honour they deserve. In the military. I know they have often been seen - not by their handlers - as "equipment" and discarded and left behind on foreign soil. It's an outrage and I am personally embarrassed, in this regard, for our top 'brass' who are responsible for this.
