There was a predecessor to the show. A local Pittsburgh show called The Children's Corner. Fred Rogers did all the same puppets behind the scenes, while a young lady named Josie Carrie talked to the puppets. I went with my girl scout troop to see it live.

Player #19176333, Fred Rogers mother knitted all his sweaters. I'm from Pittsburgh and met Fred Rogers numerous times. He was such a wonderful man. He always took the time to speak to you no matter how busy he was. He was just as nice as he was on his T.V. show. What a loss when he passed away.

In 1969, Mr. Rogers testified before a committee to save PBS from going off the air. President Nixon I wanted to cut the programs funding, and Mr. Rogers fought to keep the funding where it was. I watched him every day as a child. I miss him dearly.

The songs Fred Rogers wrote and sang for the kids were absolutely wonderful and most of us can remember and sing along to them. He was brilliant at teaching the children. He discussed every topic that needed to be talked about to the kids. Great, Great Man.
