Get rid of medical care if you are going with disease. Lot of the surgeries performed during the war led to infections, diseases, and death

Answer should be MEDICAL CARE! Your descriptive paragraph said as much. It stated bad postop care, not great environments, lack of meds and other necessities.

As you point out in your own rationale, disease & medical care are equally correct answers. One of these options should be replaced.

I would argue that the genocide against the Native Americans was the worst catastrophe in American history. Tens of millions killed, hit a low point of total population at 250,000 in 1900. Also most white washed story. (Pun intended).

I agree; the question is very misleading. Lack of proper medical care resulted in much loss of life and limb which could have otherwise been prevented, rather than prevalent diseases of that time period.

Dopeylee21, They are correct in saying disease, BUT I don't really see how you can separate disease from the quality of medical care or the lack of any effective medical care.

Toya 🇺🇸 & Player #10360520 Correct, there were tribal "wars" but, Native Americans were killed more by white settlers; by battle & by disease & the acknowledgment by history is lacking in the occurrence or responsibility. More indigenous people were killed in the U.S.A, than the entire civil war is the point we believe Dr. Livingroom is trying to convey.

Grandviewgirl66, We disagree the indigenous genocide & the lack of acknowledgment is the saddest. period

Player #16118557, There was no mention of hate for the country. It is possible to live in a country & not completely agree with everything that has been or is being done. No one is blaming you, if you feel guilt, that is on you. We believe Dr Livingroom simply believes that the indigenous genocide was the largest loss of life & so little lack of acknowledgment about that fact. That is not prejudice; however the "white wash" pun is & is indeed unwarranted.

Pila5 & Dr Livingroom, Agreed the Indigenous Genocide was/is the worst catastrophe in American history; but unfortunately is lesser acknowledged by the Government & History on the whole. Bad Form on the white wash pun it was unnecessary.

Sepsis and infection would be much more accurate answers. Disease and infection are two different medical conditions so a better answer given as medical care.

I agree. Medical care and Disease should be combined as just Disease because they are the same. Last choice should be death for abandoning the Army, running away or hiding. Usually resulted in imprisonment and/or death.

rossb0813, "lack of medical care" is not one of the answer options. it really is quite simply when you break it down. the medical care itself did not cause the most deaths, disease did. people did not die directly from the medical care preformed, but rather from infections which followed. the botched medical care caused the diseases, which in turn caused the actual deaths.
