Did not know anyone else who ever knew where Gimli was never mind as their home town. Remember that story well. The refueling people learnt quickly that a liter in not the same as a gallon...a lot smaller !

Was happy to see this question, but the explanation really should have included a note about WHY it ran out of fuel, which was a mistake made when transitioning from imperial to metric measurement.
