Sentient Squirrel, Nonsense. Tooth enamel rates only 5 on the Mohs scale where diamond is at 10. Many things are much harder: corundum, topaz, quartz, tungsten carbide, etc.

I've had tooth aches go away on their own. Not sure if that is the root or the gums healing itself.
