I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the northern lights once from my bedroom window when we lived right on the coast of West Wales. It was a freak occurrence But I’d love to see them properly!

Player #185561, Fall through spring the farther north and the farther from the light polution of large cities the more regularly and vividly they are seen. We used to lay outside in the snow with a bottle of whiskey when I went to college in northern Wisconsin (near the Canadian border) but in southern Montana they are a rare treat.

When I was a kid, I spent many nights laying in the grass, counting stars. Today's kids can't see the stars due to light pollution. Security has robbed our kids of one of the biggest wonders in life.

I was fortunate enough to see them in all their glory flying to Ireland at 6yo from Canada. The pilot woke us and told us to look out to our left, and explained the phenomenon. It was a clean cut curtain with every color of the rainbow "dancing" beautifully. Everyone was in aww!
