For many years (until at least the late 80's) Levi's came with a white cardboard tag that was a guarantee of a free replacement pair if a zipper, button or stitch ever failed. I took several pairs back, back in the day.

toothless beachrat, that's so cool to know! There are a few companies that still honor replacements for items people may not be aware of. I believe Timberland is still replacing boots if they no longer live up to their waterproof standard.
