Asimov is and has always been my favorite SF author, since I was able to read. I had an opportunity to meet him when he appeared as a guest speaker at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute Science Museum in the mid-70's. He was promoting his new book, "Murder at the ABA". I have a signed copy of the book. Since both my parents and my sister worked at the Franklin Institute Research Labs, which was connected to the Museum, I also had the opportunity to have lunch with him. We ate at the McDonald's that was inside the Museum. He was very humble, as I recall. Asimov inspired me to become an Engineer and Physicist in college.

Great books. great author. great scientist, great man. He designed the 4 Laws of Robotics which we use today in the development of artificial intelligence. He is much missed.

VividPotion6704, there are THREE laws of robotics, not four. Fundamentally, a robot cannot harm a human being, a robot cannot allow a human being to come to harm, and a robot must obey a human being's orders (in reverse order). These were developed by Asimov's fictional character, Dr. Susan Calvin, who appeared in his anthology, "I, Robot".
