That's why they rush you out of bed after surgery to walk around in the hospital.

I survived a full left leg DVT. My IVC filter rested on the clot. I had 3 bilateral PEs. The Interventional Radiologist was a miracle worker. I not only kept my leg, but I was able to keep raising my little girl. TPA, IVC filters and stents are life savers...now if they could just master deep vein valve replacement, I'd be completely healed!

I had a good friend of mine , while I attended school with as a child ; who sadly died from what is described here. She was beautiful and only thirteen. She boarded an airplane to visit an aunt and did not take aspirin before the flight . The change in elevation led to a blood clot traveling from her legs to her lungs and ultimately led to her death before the plane could make an emergency landing . She was a beautiful soul and it is my hope that those who suffer with problems such as this today will receive better care and education about how to prevent tragedies such as this that I feel could have been easily avoided with preventative medication as simple as an aspirin before the flight .

Radakyl, You wouldn't have had a DVT in your lung. It was a pulmonary embolism, most probably from a DVT in your leg. Glad you made it, thanks to your good surgeon.

Cosmo, where do you find this data? I survived a DVT. in my Vena Cava. Which caused me to suffer an ischemic stroke in the right frontal lobe of my brain in 2021. 4 days after i turned 40 years old. I am still recovering from this tragedy and struggling with hemiparalysis as well as cognition issues.
