flr, We grew up with reference to the refrigerator/fridge as the ice box. On occasion we still reference ice box; hard habits to break

Back in the 1940's, my father, aunt and uncle bought my grandmother her first fridge. She was astounded by how much better than the ice box. In Sydney it gets very hot. Downside was that the ice delivery men ended up going out of business.

It should be specified what kinds of food should be in a fridge. Some kinds of food don't need it and some kinds should never be in it!
