Who portrayed Nancy Drew in the 1939 film "Nancy Drew... Reporter"?

I still own and read my Nancy Drew books: the original stories from 1930 through 1949. After that they were rewritten (badly, I might add),up dated and shortened. I saw 3 movies staring Bonita Granville as Nancy. She was a very smart, resourceful, intelligent young lady in the original books. The made her into a blonde twit in the movies. They also deleted her chums, Bess and George, giving boyfriend, Ned, a prominent place in the stories. They were all - for a fan like me - just awful.
