Everyone could do an impression of the guy in his hey day. Those shrugged shoulders, stiff pirouetting, arms tucked in, odd guy. My ma watched him faithfully every Sunday at 8 on CBS. Later, "Maverick" on ABC challenged him, but ma didn't let me watch. Way later....Disney! on ABC! but ma didn't let me watch. I forget what was on NBC.

One of the first things you would notice about Ed was how stiff he was. It was like rigor mortis had set in before death. But there was a reason for that, Ed suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, which involves arthritis of the spine. So, it was a medical condition, not nerves that gave Ed such a stiff appearance.

Player Gil boni, I loved that little puppet! He wasn't always on but when he was it was magic! and Ed Sullivan was a wonderful foil for Topo Gigo. Who would of thought that Mr. Sullivan had such a great "funny bone"!? Also, when he introduced the Beatles, he looked like he just ate a lemon, but it was still sweet.
