Teslasgirl66, I was born on his birthday, November 30. Also attended the Mark Twain Writer's Conference in Hannibal, MO. It was neat seeing some of the landmarks featured in his books.

Nerak 7, I agree more children today should read his books.. I remember they would show his stories on TV on Family Classics every Sunday

He quit school at 12 because his Dad passed. He needed to support his family he worked with his older brother at a newspaper.. he started to write short stories under another name. He self taught himself. His books should not be banned. In the 70s in the USA his stories were shown for free on Family Classics… we need those on again for the new generations

Back in the late 80s my parents rented a huge white home at Elmira College in NY and it was said at the time that Sam Clemens had tea in the room overlooking the campus. I remember seeing his gravestone just a little down the road.
