Desi Arnaz was the business genius ... among other "firsts", he insisted each episode be recorded on *movie film*, using 3 cameras, in front of a live studio audience. (It's my understanding the "laugh tracks" from the shows are still used today)

teresa2885, I record all the episodes which in my area come on the Hallmark Channel, as my husband and I end our night together we watch several episodes of “I Love Lucy “ before going to sleep. I never get tired of watching her show and I love each and every episode even if I have seen it a hundred times. No comic can come close to matching her talent.

The censors would not allow the cast to say the word "pregnant" on the air so they refered to Lucy's condition as "Expecting".

A comedic genius, she was also one of the first comediennes that didn't try to objectify herself for laughs. (Phyllis Diller for example). She proved that she could be funny AND beautiful at the same time. She was the inspiration for Gilda Radner as well.

Player #13098313, the censors were offended by the word pregnant! talk about snowflakes. Black people watching the show doesn't mean they didn't care that Black actors didn't get those opportunities.

SOOTI, you mean like twin beds for married couples and even so the man had to keep one foot on the floor? no people of color or gay characters? i think you are confused about when politically correct ruled the airwaves. BTW, yesterday's entertainment plays every day in reruns. so, what???

I remember watching this when I was very young, and it was absolutely brilliant. Such a pity that so much of yesterday's entertainment wouldn't be allowed today, because of the politically correct brigade, when no disrespect was intended at the time.

I loved that show. But I always wondered how Desi being Cuban & Lucy being white got the go ahead to air that show on tv. I'm surprised they weren't boycotted. Thankfully they didn't but I always wondered why & how they were on tv.
