As a nursing student, I’ve gotten to see an actual aorta in a real human body. It’s extremely incredible how it’s connected to the heart, but yet branches into many arteries that connect to all other organs to provide the blood supply to stay vital. Medicine is amazing!

How come a few commented that the question was misleading? Some of us here are in the medical profession, i have to admit, but a question shouldn’t be “misleading” just because you don’t know the answer.

feab, I’m unsure on how it’s misleading or incorrect? But most or everyone who knows about the human anatomy and physiology can agree that it’s not misleading.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

AnitraLee74, The aortic valve is a part of the heart. The aorta is the artery that connects the rest of the arteries to the heart (excepting the pulmonary arteries) including the carotid arteries, the left one branches from the aorta, the right branches from the innominate artery which is a direct branch if the aorta.

As a retired veterinarian, it never ceases to amaze me the size differences in the aorta and other structures in various species.

Player #Eilidh, As all other arteries with the exception of the pulmonary arteries branch from the aorta or its branches.. yes, it is the main artery of the body. Semantics aside.
