MaximalPotion11682, the secret service looks into all THREATS against the president, however, they can't trample on free speech. You can talk about the president, but if the secret service sees you as an actual threat, they will prosecute you.

Well, if you watch really bad Will Smith movies, it started with Grant lol. Honestly a little amazed they didn't already think to have body guards for the president, especially after Lincoln assassination. Then there was Garfield and I believe McHenry took a bullet too before Teddy.
