Which U.S. President is held responsible for the Trail of Tears?
Correct answer: Andrew Jackson

DadCraft360
i love my country, but i am ashamed at how we got it.

Maestro13
It was sad as they had to go up toward Illinois, then cross over the Big River down to OK. A very sad chapter of our history.

take him off the $20 bills what a smock!

For many of my childhood years, I lived on an indian reservation, one of the poorest infact. People have no idea what it is like until they have lived it. Not just visited, but actually lived it. When we moved off the Rez, it was a major culture shock & the adjustment period for this blonde hair, blue eyed, headstrong little white girl, was a long & confusing time.

Maestro1313
Sad, as I had to teach this to 4th graders in NC.

What a sorrowful and shameful history these so called Americans have in reguard to their treatment of the real Natives of this country. My mother would tell me the true story about the Trail of Tears not found in the books.

Donna
DadCraft360, The American Indians have had and still do have it worse than any other people of our past.

Donna
Maestro1313, It must continue to be taught so it will never be repeated

Trish
Donna, it gets repeated all the time and we still are not protecting the indigenous people. When women are killed they just disappear. The alcoholism and domestic abuse in these areas is a perpetuation of the trauma that was inflicted upon them years ago. Multiple generations have been impacted. I think they have a stronger case than even the African-American population and someways. African-Americans are holding jobs and getting educated and I interact with them in my every day life. When is the last time that you saw an indigenous person at the grocery store? Or the doctors office? Or at your church? We still don’t allow them in. It’s so sad

If we are renaming schools from those thought to be positive heroes, then perhaps road names and currency are next.

** NATIVE WOMEN ARE DISAPPEARING ** Native women make up 40% of sex-trafficked females. More than 1 in 3 will be raped, 80% by non-native men, the vast majority of whom will never be prosecuted. 6 in 10 will be physically assaulted. Murder rates are 10 TIMES HIGHER than the general population. We couldn't help during the genocide, BUT WE CAN HELP NOW! Let's stand with our sisters! Thank you! NativeHope.org/MMIW

NOT ALL OF THE PEOPLE LEFT, SOME NATIVE AMERICANS HID IN THE MOUNTAINS TO KEEP FROM BEING FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR LAND. I DONT KNOW IF THE GOVT PAID THEM ANY RECOMPENCE.

G-ma
In the second paragraph “…these tribes…were asked to relocate…”. I think FORCED would be a more accurate statement. I’m Cree Indian. I love this game, there’s always something new I learn, but please get the facts stated accurately.

And they WALKED the whole way! Twice!
So many people died during the first "removal" that native leaders asked to manage the second one so less people would die.
I'm so glad that Jackson's face will be "removed" from US currency and replaced by Harriet Tubman.

BamaBell
Trish, htf you figure that ? and why bring up another race into this conversation? There isn't a competition on who had it worse. Every horrible thing done to minorities is bad STOP throwing victims under the Bus to promote your cause all of it was evil! #SAH

Alpo
This so-called Land of the Free was not free, it cost millions of native Americans their lives.

ButterflyBma
My great- great grandmother walked those Trail of Tears & it’s very strange that my great grandmother’s last name was Jackson. I never knew it was president Jackson who made them walk it😢

Felicia
What makes this worse is that this country has not learned from their mistakes. Racism is still very real and prevalent in the United States. This is not sad it’s just pure evil.

Trish
There appears to be no end of the people that get targeted by this nation. The Indians, African-Americans, migrant workers and people searching for Safety from other countries, the LGBTQ population, Women, Japanese, Italians and I’m probably not remembering a lot of other groups who were wasp men. It just makes me sick what we did to the indigenous people.

DadCraft360, imagine my shame, not only was he recorded as the worst president, the man is my great-great-great uncle. There's probably a few more greats, all I could stomach was three and he doesn't deserve that. Truly I'm so sorry for the people he harmed.

Nate Sanders
DadCraft360, Americans history is actually the history of the world...

boricua
by far the most odius and racist, vile man whom ever served

Player #5394265
Player #913201, Several historians including Michael Medved says it didn't happen. Few American Natives(my great grandfather said they were the First Americans) died. He was told by his Grandmother their branch lost all but 6.

OptimisticFrog17914, So you'll be giving them your land and properties before you buy a one way ticket to Europe? Or are you all talk, no action?
