You're all wrong about the pronunciation, as I'm sitting on the northeast side of São Paulo.(S-ow-n P-ow-lo) The 'n' in São is a nasal sound. I've been going back and forth to Brasil (yes, that's spelled properly) for over 30 years, and I speak a fair amount of Portuguese.
