Which countries went to war over the Falkland Islands?
Correct answer: Great Britain and Argentina
jilly
Player #1328545, Argentina did invade the Falkland Islands and many innocent people died because of it , including my 18 year old nephew Christopher Mordicai.

She201726, Britain is actually the island that contains Scotland, Wales and England. The UK includes Northern Ireland.
Montana Lady
Sonia, It improved conditions for the islanders things that had been avoided for fear of angering Argentina were finally done & lessened the power of the military junta that controlled Argentina which enabled its return to democratic government in '83

my grandad actually fought in this war. he got a tattoo of the islands recently

JadeB19932017, er no they didnt. Go fact check that. The falklands is still british and that is how the people there like it.
Red Baron EGTO
She201726, GB and UK are not the same entity. GB is Wales, Scotland and England, the UK are these 3 plus NI, hence the full name of the UK is The U.K. of GB AND NI. It’s wrong to say that the United Kingdom can be shortened to GB.

OzzysUndies, the RAF actually staged the Vulcan flights out of Ascension Island and then had in flight refuelling via converted Victors.

Oh yeah, that conflict where America refused to help Britain because they believed the size of the Falklands wasn't worth fighting over, even though it is British territory. Wouldn't like it if a country tried to take Hawaii or something from them, and the Brits refused to help them
Slappers
munchkin1300, erm no..... Argie marines landed at Cape Pembroke followed by an invading force of around 8000 men.... they underestimated the resolve of the British government to reclaim the islands. Belgrano? It was a capital asset that was a threat to our forces it was destroyed. They are quite beautiful islands, I’ve spent the total of nearly 4 years there, they are and 2ill always remain British
Nutshell
JadeB19932017, it's still a British territory and everyone who lives there British citizen... so I don't know who you think they lost it to.
hi
Caro, no, sorry if the people who live there consider themselves from a country. which they do. what right do you or your country say that they do not?
hi
Me, yes and they considered themselves British
hi
becca121080, apologies I got that completely wrong! did not read the question correctly!
Dee1
even in soccer afterwards they hated playing with each other
Caro
Islas Malvinas are Argentinian!
Msc

Helesha

Amatista
Imphx, and what would that be?
HB
Stop the wars and hatred!
SANDAM
jilly, so sorry 😞
bologna
jilly, rest in peace to your nephew.

they never declared war on each other, no country declared war. it was a policing action, on a very large scale. so i think the term "war" should be changed.
DawnyG
Just before it that war started, myself and my then husband went to jersey by boat, we were told that they may need the boats to take soldiers to the Falklands and we would be stranded there or have to pay extra to get a plane home, luckily they weren’t needed after all

becca121080, no way! 🤦🏼

Player #4380285, and yet, your own comment has a key spelling mistake. It is “grammar” not “grammer”. You are, also, missing capitalization and two periods in what seems meant to have been a three-sentence answer, that you posted to correct RarePixie4798.
Amos
Player Elf Council, where are you from? Who is ‘we’ and who are ‘they’ in your comment? (This game is played internationally…)
Amos
Player OG FOOT, by “we” I assume you are in the USA? (This game is international, so please be clear)

Player #27130317, how can anyone possibly give a ‘thumbs down’ to a message of condolence??? How rude.
Amos
Player #41628475, and yet, *geographically* it makes NO sense that the USA would have ever invaded and claimed the (kingdom?) of Hawaii as part of itself…?
Amos
Player #1192839, as a little girl in Canada, the story of ‘Princess’ Diana got me interested in learning about the British Royal Family, which is probably the ONlY reason I heard about that war… Prince Andrew did military service at the time and took part, if I remember correctly..?
Amos
jilly, sorry for your family’s loss
Amos
becca121080, how could anyone ‘thumbs down’ that basic fact??? 😳😳😳
dahnikerlinz
Fredrico, strategic sheet purposes...
The_Obliterator
DAK, America and the USA?
Maxim
jilly, Great Britain invaded all over the world and now they complain about immigrants
Spacemonkey
"Stop all wars now!" Yeah, right. Good luck with that
DAK
I wonder why only America, Russia, and the US mainly win wars? Even though, collectively these countries have killed more people in history than any other nation.

My father was a, recently, retired Royal Naval officer in 1982. He was still on what the RN call the reserve list, when this happened. I remember him taking a telephone call a day after the, so called, scrap metal merchants landed. His back suddenly straightened and he started calling his caller "Sir" rather than the cheerful "Hello Sandy" that he had originally greeted him with. He was called back into service and served as one of the principal intelligence officers in the task force. I still remember being a boy and watching him go to war.
Nimrod
Slappers, I am proud of the fact that I help free the British Falkland Islanders also helped to free the Argentinian people from a despotic junta

I was a combat medic with the British Army during that conflict
