What body system is affected by Crohn’s disease?
Correct answer: Digestive system

Max
Sassy, about the same as everyone else; I've had it 50 of my 60 years; can sometimes cause an obstruction, but as long as you get medical attention ASAP, it's not fatal

SnoopyFan
I have Crohn's. Truly awful disease!

Rachel
Sassy, I've cared for people in hospital with Chrohns, ulcerative colitis, IBD etc and they're well into their 70 and 80's.

Sharon, I agree. It occurs in the digestive system but is due to "immunity" system.
Dysregulated Immune Response

Sharon
it is classed as a immunodeficiency. the question is incorrect and misleading.

ray
TestyAlien3443, The cause is unknown, though it is a suspected to be a auto immune response.

Queen
Sharon, you need to reread the question.

LeXy
Sassy, I'm 75. Multiple surgeries, Prednisone ostomy as a last resort. IV therapy 3x weekly b12 shots and much medication Terrible disease

Rae
It is awful. It’s not, per se, fatal. Deaths due to C are mostly complications from surgery, obstructions or perforations (I’ve had both), and suicide. “Autoimmune” still just means “we don’t know.” All the biologic/chemo treatments can help, but cause other problems (older folks on this thread have probably been a guinea pig for most since the old high-dose prednisone/Imuran days).
Best plan: learn to laugh. Talk openly and don’t be embarrassed. Help teach the public. Run from any doctor that says it’s your fault.
Have fun & have good friends.
Best of luck to you!

Jerms
Sharon, the condition is an auto-immune disorder, not immunodeficiency. Immunodeficiency is a weakened immune system.

Katt, don't be so snippy. we all make mistakes

Katt
Sharon, reread the question; it asks "WHAT does Crohn's affect?", not causes it. Silly...
