Dang it. My time was up. Got distracted & I knew the answer right off the bat. Oh well. I'm only competing against myself to check how far Oldtimer's disease has set in.

Hirsutism is a medical condition strictly applied to women. Men being hirsute is a common phrase but it is not hirsutism.

The NHS website says "Hirsutism is where women have thick, dark hair on their face, neck, chest, tummy, lower back, buttocks or thighs". It's not about men being hirsute.

Guess what? During several periods of time in our history when lots of folks were having a tough time earning just enough for food; other folks working in carnival and/or circus sideshows as "Bearded Ladies", "Wolf Woman'", etc. were able to earn enough money to raise families & sometimes save enough money to retire comfortably. True, some owners of the same enterprises were crooked & ripped off their "money-makers", buy isn't that true of other type business. At least the hairy ladies were not dying in mining accidents or fires in textile mills.
