I knew this from watching "Splendor in the Grass". Bud's dad commits suicide when the stock market crashes.

Why are people commetting on Titanic 1912 when it's about stockmarket crash in 1929. One thing history leaves out is the Dustbowl! Big reason!!!!

Player #9442102, In reality, very few did that. In fictional movies, they used that to portray the tragedy of it all. My parents grew up during the depression. They struggled and suffered, not enough food and few jobs. But suicide as an option? They would never have considered it! People just kept trying, helping each other, doing whatever they could do. In the divided atmosphere of today, the country might not survive, but back then it was different!

Banditceecee4, the Titanic took with it 2 of the wealthiest men in the country at that time. Legend has it that Morgan and Rockefeller were supposed to sail that trip but canceled before it left dock. Conspiracies abound...lol

PerkyLin, The siucides weren't by ordinary people who just had to struggle harder to survive, it was by the greedy people who lost all of their riches in the crash.
