This house was built for a specific family whose name is given. This would suggest that when it was built is a matter of record .
I am not an expert but I know that you can tell the age in terms of lifespan, by counting growth rings. That will not tell you when the tree was felled , or when it was used : I have a few pieces of 600 year old oak in my possession that do not look any different to the newer timber I have . I know this is at least 600 years old because I was given it by the person who demolished the farmhouse it was part of , not because I can see a date in the growth rings
