Who was the man whose death postponed as the bullet shot in revenge took twenty years to hit and kill?

This is so unbelievable & freakish .... that bullet was certainly meant for him.

I don’t see any mention in the answer that this story is true. It certainly sounds like fiction to me. Has anybody checked this story out?
