George Clooney started in this movie. Every time I've watched it, I try so hard to push that little boat up over that giant wave, trying to save them all!!!!!

EliteLawyercat57024, it’s always been a very dangerous job when you go out to sea ,never know if you will return home,,but shows like this should remind people that’s what our fishermen go through to bring to us the wonderful seafood we love so much, I just ate a plate of delicious fish! so good. my thanks to all fishermen out there, May God Keep You Safe !

I am from Gloucester and my bf at the time was best friends with Bob Shatford (Mark Walberg's character). This movie is BASED on a true story. Most of the story is based on things that happened on other boats in the area. My friends did not come back to tell their story. RIP Bob, Sully, Murph, Billy, Bugsy and Piere.

I'm unsure of the outcome but there were lawsuits filed against the writers, producers, etc., for defamation of character for the portrayal of the captain. The claim was that it showed him being reckless, when in truth, no one knows what happened once they were at sea.

SilkenTract, Fishing out in the sea is so dangerous,,and I love the fish and seafood,,wow,,this particular fishing boat was caught between 2 big storms,,I live on the coast, a hurricane went through and met another storm up north and they together made a Perfect Storm, and so the movie was mostly true,,

Zell. I am a female

IN THE MOVIE THEY ALL AGREED WITH THE CAPTAIN TO TRYAND GO THROUGH THE STORM. SO HE WAS NOT LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE. THESE GROWN MEN DECIDED TO BRAVE THE STORM INSTEAD OF STAYING WHERE THEY WERE.

Sebastian Junger is a great journalist/writer. His book "War" is the best of many I've read on the psychological aspects of war, especially about the bonds formed between the military who fight together, and why it's so difficult for so many of them to adjust to civilian life.
His documentaries on the subject are considered some of the most authentic; he was in the patrols, and lived in the outposts. His photographer in Afghanistan, Tim Heatherton (sp?) was later killed doing a war shoot with another journalist.

Laurie
The book is excellent. As usual, better than the movie!
