Good question. I have never noticed that you can't tickle yourself. I suppose now that I have become aware of this, tickling myself is all I will be doing.

The tickling of children, when carried to an extreme, when continued after the child cries "Stop!" actually becomes painful, and can become abusive. I've seen kids cry when an adult refuses to stop tickling. There comes a point where it's no longer funny or fun.
