Bobby Red Shoes, you're numbers are way off - I've been to the factories in China, they are more like 10-20 bucks a pair at manufacturing and the staff now get paid around us$800 a month, 20 years ago it was more like $100/month. The worst country I've been to is Bangladesh - the staff there in apparel manufacturing (outside of the capital Dhaka) are paid $50-60/month.
