Tom, No , it means you don’t care if you do ! Only joking, I have surgically induced anosmia from damage (breaking) of the olfactory nerves during an operation to place a clip on an aneurysm. BO is the least of the problems, mine or anyone else’s. There is the inability to detect gas leaks or smoke,to smell and taste food . You also miss out on good stuff like perfume , baking smells, flowers , the sea , the woods . Not long ago while cooking I encountered my first rotten egg in nearly 50 years - I spotted the blackness as I cracked the shell and guessed . Even though I threw it down the toilet for disposal my wife could still smell it two hours later . I didn’t even notice it. In my case I can sometimes detect that there is something if there is a very strong smell but I don’t know what causes it .

I lost both my sense of taste and smell, after I got run over by a car, at 11yrs old. I had a fractured skull and concussion and needed CPR at the scene. Over the years it has improved but there are sometimes when I can’t smell anything
