I find the story about how this person gather his stories quite interesting. Give the man some credit and please don't be too rough on him about strange translations. Imagine yourself sitting around some holiday family events in this world grown-up stalking telling you all different stories about things that happened when they were a kid or thinks their grandparents told them.
