Vincent Van Gogh is my favorite artist !

Rod, You thought it was about his gay lover? Oh my.

Don McLean is talking about growing up in NY. Yes, he's talking about Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. He also mentions James Dean. He had a paper route and the bad news was delivered to the doorstep every day. I watched his Documentary. Everything has a meaning.. Some parts he made up to rhyme. Starry Starry Night was about Vincent Van Gogh.

This question has enlightened me, I thought that song was about his lover. I got it right because I remembered Vincent was in the lyrics.

Vel,
A truly beautiful song.
American Pie is another great song.
I listen to the lyrics and, as good as they are, they don't really make sense to me.
I might be missing the point of course, I believe the song was written in response to Buddy Holly's death.

Vel
Such a beautiful song. I listen to it over and over.
Anyone who does not know it, please find it and just listen.

I don't know that I've ever heard this song. I'm only familiar with the "American Pie" song by him.
