Once while working in a school I actually fell out with a teacher who wouldn’t let me explain that a Platypus was a mammal to the kids, hope she’s read the explanation! 👍

Billy, They are very rare, maybe at risk. The spur on the paw is only used in self defence. I have only heard of one person being stung, she picked up the platypus to take it off the road, so it wouldn't get run over. I have only seen one once in the wild. Australians would not go near one in the wild out of respect. Only the males have the venous spur.

FOXY , Poison is a toxin that gets into the body by inhaling, swallowing, or absorption through the skin. Venomous: it's when the toxin is injected into you

We had a Platypus Records store in Manhattan Beach, CA, when I grew up there in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. There were both new and used albums, and the place always had incense burning inside. Kind of a "hippie store" as opposed to "cookie cutter" record stores.
