Unless being bred,both sexes need to be desexed early, to stop early death in unmated females and the smell in males. Their urine then does not become pungent and the main smell will come from not cleaning up their carnivous faeces and food spill. The occasional bath does them no harm if being kept as indoor pets. They come in many colours and the one with the marking shown in the picture is known as polecat.

They smell even when they are descented. They also can have a sharp bite.
