I lived there in the late 70βs as a kid. One of my favorite places to go was Charles Town Landing. Is it still there? I remember watching the movie The Sound of Music in the auditorium that was there.

I have read that many of the houses in the north east were built with bricks that were used for ballest stones.
this would have been my choice because if stones were used they could roll around and cause an unbalanced cargo in the hold
