What is the name of the system in which clocks are set ahead an hour every spring?
Correct answer: Daylight Savings Time

Sassy
I don’t like it, but I have no choice.

BlueEyedAlien
Unnatural. The sun should be directly overhead at noon on each of the solstices. Changing time is unhealthy.

Ray
Today, daylight savings time is obsolete. It's no longer needed .

Bigkev
Nobby, no, you have it backwards, DST is putting it ahead in march, going back in November is just putting back to standard time, which I'm a proponent of leaving it there permanently, when DST is implemented in March it's dark out in the morning until 8 AM, not good with kids walking around and waiting on buses etc

Bigkev
Ray, when was it really ever "needed"

Bigkev
BlueEyedAlien, I agree and wish they would stop it already

angelstar
I don't like it either. I also think it should be eliminated.

Player JD
my father used to say they came up with it just so the rich man could spend more time on the golf course. ⛳

jp
It needs to be eliminated!

StaticNomad, inertia and habit *shrug*

RushMama2112
Ray, agreed. We're just so used to it that inertia has set in. :-/

Coo
StaticNomad, Do you mean combine harvester perchance?

Nobby
Surely 'Daylight Saving' is when the clocks go BACK in October; keeping it light in the mornings when the kids go to school - the clocks then go forward in the Spring, when the dawn breaks at an earlier hour.

bird,
Actually you should be making savings on your energy bills.

✅️ The only viable reason left for doing that, ( I agree with ) is so children do not have to walk to the bus stop or school in the dARK...

bird
it's Saving Time not Savings

Jonesy, when my wife and I were dating, had to adjust from 14 hours to 16 hours, or vice versa, due to her living in Melbourne and I in the eastern US. Thankfully, she said yes, and we've remained happily married (mostly) over the last 22 years, in the same time zone!

KittyA9
HATE IT!!!! It should be outlawed!

StaticNomad
clumsiness = columbines* (autocorrect got me) 🤣

StaticNomad
It should be eradicated given that the majority of farmers now use GPS and even automated harvesters and clumsiness to do the work. That was the only reason it existed was for farmers to have kore light for harvesting. I've no idea why we kept the practice once technology advanced.

Mars V
I’ve never met anyone who likes this.

Some states in Australia do daylight saving (New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia) while the rest do not (Western Australia, Queensland and The Northern Territory).
