Why were walnuts not allowed to be eaten by commoners in Babylon?

People say the easy questions are too easy, but what is this? Never knew this!

I've read that walnuts have unique nutritional properties, even amongst other types of nuts, so perhaps these ancient civilisations were onto a good thing!

walnut trees were planted near canal locks in France when they were constructed to provide a source of food for the boating families whilst locking through.

Black walnuts are the best. A good chunk of my youth was spent sitting on a stump cracking a walnut on a bigger stump. Hard to build up a supply when you’re eating half of what you cracked.
