Who was Fritz Kolbe?

I don't understand why I have never heard of him before. People like that - those of integrity, steadfast of principle, brave and determined to do the right thing against overwhelming odds - should be in our history books. And I was in school when we were still taught history. I say God bless this man others like him who have gone unrewarded and unnoticed by those safety he secured.
