Here's how I remember the difference:
Crocodile begins with "C" but the snout shape is pointed like the letter "A".
Alligator begins with "A" but the snout shape is round like the letter "C".
Hope this helps.

Paige, yup!! move over on that limb😉

SysterYster
Snout shape, teeth, where they live, size, food, etc. But the snout is the easiest thing to distinguish.

Salt water Crocodiles grow significantly larger than Alligators. It would be like putting Mike Tyson (in his prime) into a ring with Pee Wee Herman.

Andi
Paige, U got that right!! Because either one can run pretty darn fast, if they want to bad enough!!

Dorothy
the shape of the snout is the most visible characteristic

Jamie, the alligators snout is flat and the crocs are pointed more! I didn’t know for a long time the difference in the two either.

I finally figured out the differences in a crocodile and an alligator lately! The snouts definetly says it all! Just like the answer says here!
