Why would they remove the one from the Vietnam war? It was horrible how the soldiers were treated when they came home. People calling them baby killers and such. They were just doing what they were told. 😖

snoopydm5162, i’ve had the pleasure of knowing someone who was a tomb guard. After his time he took us down underneath the tomb to see where the soldiers kept their uniforms and took breaks and stuff like that.

My husband remembers the disrespect and name calling when he was in the Navy during Vietnam. He was on the recomisioning of the aircraft carrier Coral Sea. He wears his Coral Sea hat all the time and now so many people thank him for his service. And he loves talking to other vets who wear their hats also.

AtypicalArmor3, there is a shack into which the guard can duck in case of disrespectful or loud crowd. since it covers the head of the guard it helps during a truly bad blizzard or windstorm, but I do believe the guard is there as they say 24/7/365.
