What is the scientific term for a bear's winter sleep?

I know all about hibernation ! Prolonged, extended sleep is one of my favorite activities.

I have learned about other animals hibernation too.

Zoey, fine. But according to Safari and many other sources, bears DO in fact hibernate. Whatcha gonna say about that?

Fluffy, no, they don't. Bears take a long winter nap, but their body temperature and heartbeat don't decrease enough for it to be considered hibernation. Also, they wake up occasionally to eat. Smaller animals like ground hogs truly hibernate.

bears don't actually hibernate.

I also hibernate on weekends 😭
