Which organ produces insulin to regulate blood sugar levels?

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. It can strike at any age, from three weeks to 60+ years. It is incurable and requires intensive daily (and nightly) management. I’ve been living with it for 50 years.
