What is the name of this flowering plant?

I lived in the state of Georgia for a number of years. In the Spring and Summer the wisteria would bloom. It climbs up trees or anything it can find to latch onto. I have to admit, the blooms were breathtaking beautiful. A rich purple color that almost looks like clumps of grapes hanging down. I loved the wisteria, but, most unfortunately, it is highly invasive and will kill the trees by strangling them.

lts a very invasive plant. There was one on my property that climbed up a 70 foot pine tree and strangled it till it died. If you see this on your property get rid of it immediately. It spreads like wildfire.
