No fair starting story and not finishing it! The kids find a gingerbread house, meet a witch, Hansel is imprisoned so he can be fattened up, Greta shoves the witch into the oven, frees her brother, they find treasure, go home, and live happily ever after. But what’s the point of telling us a story most of us already know? What would’ve more enlightening is background on the Brothers Grimm, e.g. how many of their stories did they actually create? Was writing what they did for a living? Give us a sense of the mindset in those days of there not being any child-appropriate subject matter, e.g., little Red Riding Hood was a story about rape. This was a missed opportunity to give us much more interesting material about the Brothers Grimm and the history of children’s stories.
